iPhone or iPod Not Being Found by your computer?
Solved this problem at work today, and realized there are probably a lot of people having issues with the same thing:
Basically what happened was that my boss' computer just wasn't recognizing his iPhone. Not syncing with iTunes, or even charging. The computer just had no idea the iPhone was even there. After some digging, here's the solution I found, courtesy of Just Another iPhone Blog:It worked like a charm! I've only tested the Mac fix so far, but it worked perfectly! Delete the following files:
- /System/Library/AppleMobileDevice.kext
- /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/DeviceLink.framework
- /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework
- /Library/Receipts/AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg
Then re-install the latest version of
iTunes.Windows XP
- Quit iTunes and disconnect the iPhone
- Go to the Start menu, then the Control Panel and open Administrative Tools, then Services.
- Select “Apple Mobile Device” then “Stop the service.”
- After it is stopped, click “Start the service.”
- Connect the iPhone again, launch iTunes and check for recognition.
Windows Vista
- Quit iTunes and disconnect the iPhone
- Go to “Start,” then search for “Services”
- In Programs, click “Services”.
- Select “Apple Mobile Device” then “Stop the service.”
- After it is stopped, click “Start the service.”
- Connect the iPhone again, launch iTunes and check for recognition.
